Instruction Prasarita Padottanasana Tent
Exercise description
Purpose: Standing position, symmetrical, forward bend. Performance instructions: Stand in the centre of the mat facing the long edge of the mat. Walk to a stride the length of one of your legs. Point your toes slightly inwards, heels outwards, pressing the outer edges of your feet against the mat. Place your hands in your groins, aligning your spine parallel to the floor. Tighten the front of the thighs, lift the buttocks, push the hips back, bring the top of the head forward, withdraw the shoulders, keep the back tight. Bring your hands under your shoulders, rest them on the floor on your fingertips. Maintain a long back, abdomen and chest. Grasp your outer ankles with your hands. Extend your stride until you reach an upright position at the elbows. Keep the head and neck relaxed. The aim is not to place the head on the floor - when the back and insides of the legs and back are stretched, the head itself will move closer to the floor. We do not rest our body weight on it.
